Man sues firm for allegedly ridiculing his ‘stupid’ religion
From the New York Post
A Catholic financial-industry recruiter is suing his boss for allegedly ridiculing his religion, including calling the Immaculate Conception “stupid.”
Former Rainmaker Associates employee Joseph Modica says the firm’s founder, Steven Rosen, also made fun of his Sicilian ancestry, calling him a “typical guinea chophouse broker,” even though Rosen himself had worked for the notorious Wolf of Wall Street firm Stratton Oakmont, the Manhattan Supreme Court suit says.
Rosen’s alleged anti-Catholic comments included the statement: “You don’t really believe Jesus was born to a Virgin Mother, or are you that big of a moron?”
And, “Is it that stupid Ash Wednesday again? You better not come to work with ashes on your head.”
Modica says he had to resign in July 2014 after five years on the job even though he was the highest grossing employee at Rainmaker.
Modica, of White Plains, says the harassment was so intense that he was eventually hospitalized for a panic attack. He’s suing for more than $5 million.
Rosen called the allegations “untrue and absurd.”
