Italian American One Voice Coalition Adds Johnsonville Foods To Its “Wall of Shame”
“Johnsonville Foods commercial found most objectionable”
The Italian American ONE VOICE Coalition has added Wisconsin-based Johnsonville Foods to its “Wall of Shame”.
Johnsonville Foods has been singled out for continuing to air a commercial for its ‘Family Brats’ that features a character resembling Tony Soprano. The spot depicts a family barbeque and is riddled with worn out organized crime references. In short, it is an insult to this nation’s nearly 30-million Italian Americans.
“It’s this continued glorification of the subculture of organized crime that we most object to”, says One Voice president Doctor Manny Alfano. “Worse yet, despite our objections and calls for Johnsonville to pull the spot the company continues to air it”.
One Voice especially finds disturbing a comment from a spokeswoman for Johnsonville who describes the commercial as “inspirational.”
We again call upon Johnsonville Foods to pull the spot and issue an apology. We have also alerted the thousands of One Voice members coast to coast to boycott all Johnsonville Foods products until the company does so.
The Italian American One Voice Coalition is a group dedicated solely to fighting defamation, negative stereotyping and discrimination against Italian Americans. It is a national group, based in New Jersey.
